Volumising Mascaras

I think it goes without saying that mascara is the no.1 makeup staple in most makeup bags. I personally couldn't leave the house without it and it makes an instant impact like no other makeup product. Basically, mascara rocks!

However, as you will know it's not as simple as picking up any mascara and coating them lashes until fluttering perfection. In the past, I've tried some awful mascara, from ones that flake onto the under eye area, attractive, much? To volumising mascaras that clump the eyelashes together so badly that it gives the appearance of having 4 very very thick eyelashes - just no. But thankfully it's not all bad and the beauty industry provides us with many a wonderful mascara that does at it states! Below you will find my personal favourites that not only do as they say but aren't going anywhere anytime soon as they come from some amazing brands!

Too Faced Better Than Mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
19.00 Debenhams
Of course as a beauty blogger I had to try the best-selling mascara in the world, with possibly the worst ever product name, mind! With YSL Faux Cils being my go-to high-end mascara (which also happens to dry up within 3 months, ergh) I was on the look out for a new extra special mascara and truth be told I didn't expect it to be this one. In fact, it wasn't until I started to remove the excess products onto the tube opening that I saw this mascara in all its glory. With too much product on the brush I was seeing it's lengthening and volumising effects but my lashes were being weighed down and it just wasn't doing it for me. But once I spotted the error of my ways and started to use the hourglass shaped wand with less product I was amazed! To see the amazing results I totally encourage you to have a Google and see before and after shots for yourself because it really does amazing things to even short lashes. For me, it not only volumises my lashes at the base but lengthens them and fans them out without any spidery-ness! It also holds a curl well and importantly doesn't flake during the day. I have nothing but good things to say about this mascara and tend to use it most times I apply makeup, although I try to limit myself so other mascaras get a look in!

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Soap & Glory Thick & Fast HD Mascara
10.50 Boots
Soap & Glory is one of my favourite high street beauty brands as it has some key pieces that are really very impressive! This as you may have guessed includes the Thick & Fast HD mascara, not to be confused with the standard non-gold Thick & Fast mascara. On inspection, it does look like a pretty ordinary mascara, especially with the straight up and down wand but don't let that put you off as the more than adequate wand with the collagen-filled mascara formula does amazing things to the lashes and performs like a much more expensive mascara. Side note - I think I'm realising that any mascara that includes collagen is a winner for me! Again, this is a mascara that does both, lengthening and volumising the lashes but with the lengthening aspect being most noticeable as it really does pull the lashes up. It's also one of the blackest mascara I own!

Loreal Miss Manga Mascara

L'Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara
7.99 Boots
Miss Manga mascara is possible my longest re-purchased mascara to date. It's also one of the most affordable mascara in my collection and I'm pretty sure in drugstores... 7.99 is pretty good, isn't it! I remember when this mascara launched and buying it with thoughts of it being a gimmick. This was due to the flexible wand that gives movement to the head/tip, which I soon discovered is actually a genius invention as it allows the brush to be guided by the lashes, making for a full coverage and a non-heavy handed application. This mean it volumises amazingly well without clumps and the tips of the lashes are lightly coats compared to the base of lashes giving a lengthening and fanned out look. It does take some getting use to but once you see how this mascara works I'm sure you will love it too!

Best UK Mascaras

As eyelashes come in all different lengths and even curvatures I often think mascara should go by type, however, the above three mascaras seem to have taken the beauty world by storm, not just me, and will hopefully suit you!

Have you tried any other these wonderful mascaras?

Fee xo.
